This past June, the University of Michigan ASDA chapter teamed up with Michigan’s SNDA members to put together the First Annual ASDA & SNDA Golf Outing at Lake Forest Golf Club in Ann Arbor. The events planning was headed up by ASDA pre-dental member Gary Forgach with the help of a committee made up of members from both the ASDA and SNDA chapters as well as the Michigan Pre-Dental Club. With a turn out of over 50 golfers and additional guests for the dinner banquet, the event was a tremendous success.
The day began with player registration with every participant receiving their lunch, dinner, and drink tickets, plus a gift bag including a great door prize. While everyone in the clubhouse was purchasing raffle tickets and mulligans, and entering their teams into the skins game, all players were given some time to warm up on the driving range and test out the putting green before the shotgun start. The format of the outing was a four person team scramble for 18 holes with the winners being awarded a foursome at Michigan’s university course and a free entrance into next year’s ASDA & SNDA Golf Outing. Over a $500 value!
Other contests included a closest to the pin competition in which the winner received a pair of Oakley sunglasses donated by the dental optics company Surgitel, a longest drive competition for both the ladies and the gentlemen in which the winners received two free rounds of golf at the golf course, and last but not least, the hole-in-one contest sponsored by BMW of Ann Arbor where each player was given the chance to win a brand new BMW 1 Series Convertible which was parked right next to the tee box as each player attempted the impossible. Unfortunately there were no hole-in-one winners, but there were quite a few close calls! Besides Surgitel, and BMW, the National Guard, and Wireless Toyz also took part in sponsoring this day of fun along with several local businesses in Ann Arbor that donated several gifts for raffle prizes.
During the dinner banquet all of the guests enjoyed some drinks from the clubhouse bar as the winners of all contests and raffle prizes were announced, and the event slowly came to an end with everyone leaving with smiling faces. ASDA & SNDA plan to have the second annual golf outing next year at Michigan’s University Course and expect to have an even greater turn out due to the great success of this year’s outing.
